Hi - we’ve engaged a landscaper to build 2 patio areas in our back yard. one raised the other ground level.

I do not believe the laying of the slabs has been done to a satisfactory standard but this is my first time having this done so any advice on what to say to the landscaper would be appreciated.

My concerns
Laying pattern (first 2 photo) is not like any I can find online
Joint widths seem very inconsistent and do not look good to me (second 2 photo)

Thanks in advance

That first image looks shocking, all over the place. The pattern is interesting, not random or ordered, somewhere in the middle. I suppose that is a personal preference. Not what I would choose but I don't especially mind it. Definitely the wrong pattern for those slabs as it highlights the inconsistencies. The joint widths is the tricky one. As the slabs are quite inconsistent it would take a lot of work to even them up. Did they supply the slabs? Not a good job in my opinion. I'd be disappointed if I'd DIYed it like that, I'd be pretty annoyed if I'd payed a professional to get that.

Yeah they provided a few samples and we selected these ones - golden fossil I think it is called.
