I've spent the day painting my mother's kitchen whilst she is away. I had to paint skimmed walls but the plaster was dry. I thinned down cheap matt emulsion and put on 2 coats then a few hours later finished with coat of deluxe kitchen paint. Problem is I thinned base coat 4 parts water to 1 part paint instead of 4 parts paint to 1 part water! Only noticed my mistake after 3rd coat completed. I had to leave before final coat dried so no idea how it's looking. It looked ok as it was going on And no peeling or anything evident but checking on this site I notice advice is "dilute 10%-15%" and generally no more than 50% certainly not 80%! what is likely to happen and how shall I best rectify my error? I'm concerned what effect adding such diluted paint will do, in time, to the wall and moisture levels. Any advice gratefully received, thanks!
