Hi folks. Was hoping for some advice. We have our heating controls set for the upstairs between 7-8 for the kids going to bed. I noticed that upstairs was unusually code despite the cold weather and when I checked the radiators they were stone cold. A quick trip to the utility confirmed the heating control power on and red indicating the heat should be on as usual. I checked the garage and confirmed the boiler was off so I began testing the controls. Downstairs heat on fired the boiler as did the water but again, the boiler didn't fire when I turned on the heating upstairs.

Any ideas on what is going on? Thanks for much for any help

Left control - upstairs heating the water

Right control - downstairs heating

Thank you. I can see and hear the valve turning for downstairs but not upstairs

Latch it open manually and put heating on downstairs will give you heat upstairs ,if need be ,until you sort out the fault.

Your zone valves are what are called MOMO (motor on, motor off) unlike the more common spring return valves , the motor on the upstairs valve has failed, you will need to replace with the same actuator, or repace the whole valve and alter the wiring, you wont be able to latch it open as previously suggested
