Hi, I'm new here & looking for some advice or suggestions, I cant find much on the net about this problem....

My neighbours have had some landscaping done & replaced the fence between our properties.

We are on a hill & they are about 30cm or more lower than me. The new fence/landscaping has left a gap between the new wooden fence and the earth on my side. The gap is maybe 10-15 cm all the way along the fence & about 30 cm deep - could be more

I cant leave it, its going to erode & wash away if I do. I'm worried that if I just put soil or gravel in the gap, it's going to shorten the lifespan of the new wood by trapping moisture, I dont think a membrane would help much in this case

Any suggestions would gratefully appreciated
Thanks

You can stabilise bare earth with vegetation [eg, yellow archangel], but it can take a while to get established. On the other hand, the soil won't wash away instantly either. If you don't plant anything there, weeds will establish there, and probably stabilise it anyway.

So maybe the reason you can't find much about the problem, is that it isn't such a big problem.
