I have an unsightly cable that runs around the outside walls of my house which I would like to remove. I suspect it is running into a pair of extension sockets that we do not need as we have wireless phones (the cable has been there since we moved in). I wanted to check people's opinions before I go ahead and remove it though as unfortunately I can't be 100% sure that's what the cable is for as it disappears under parts of the roof, meaning I can't fully trace it.
With reference to the attached photos:
The thicker black cable that comes out of the plastic pipe in the ground is (I assume) the supply cable from the street. The brown cable runs off to a point in the wall immediately behind where the master phone socket for the house is located (downstairs office). The thinner black cable is the one I want to remove. This runs up and along the walls on the front of the house, disappears under the roof but then looks like it re-emerges on the back of the house and runs into a point in the wall immediately behind where there is a phone extension point in the bedroom. Somewhere along the way I think it also branches off to an extension socket in the conservatory which comes out of the ceiling.
I'm 99% sure it's safe to remove, however I just wanted people's view. Also from looking at the way it's wired, can I just snip the cable at the plastic connectors (they don't seem to be removable without breaking them), or do I need to properly terminate the connections from the brown cable in some way to avoid issues with the master phone socket?
Any advice gratefully received!
