Advice on rubber shed roof

Morning all,

Hoping for some advice please on the finish of my shed roof.

It looks as though the fitter as put the edge trims on, however the depth of the wood underneath exceeds the plastic trim.

Any advice on if this is acceptable (I assume not as the wood underneath will be exposted and go rotten) and how should this have been correctly finished?

The standard sized trims have been used.

He could have used contact adhesive and glued the rubber to the edges, then trim of the rubber flush with bottom of timber.
