Hi;
We are about to take the plunge and get a wood burner installed.
I have asked for a couple of quotes and what seems to be the better company (seemed a little more thorough) have come back with an acceptable plan.
My only gripe is their plan for the fire place recess, instead of tidying up the brickwork or concrete rendering, they want to fit a 2mm Galvanised Steel Recessed Box into the recess.
Could I ask any experts on here to have a look at their and offer any thoughts:
1. Using a galvanised box (with register plate) instead of pointing or rendering. Painted with Almond white heat resetant paint.
2. Clearview Vision Flat Top Wood Burner.
3. Iroko Hardwood Shelf.
4. 30mm Brazillian slate hearth.
5. 150mm Class 1 316 Grade Stainless Steel Liner.
6. New Terracota Pot with terracota coloured stainless steelpot hanging rain cap with bird guard.
7. Air Vent to be fitted in wall.
8. Supply of a Carbon Monoxide Alarm
9. Fit data plate and register with HETAS
10. Demolish and remove old 1970's stone surround fire place, excavate and enlarge fireplace opening and remove all rubbish and sweep chimney.
11. Fit concrete lintel.
12. Repair surrounding wall to plaster finish
Lounge where fire is to be fitted is 3.5m x 4m with a large opening (2m x 2m) into the dining room which is 3.5m x 3.5m. The lounge also has a door to kitchen and door to hall / stairs.
The lounge to one side has a large single glazed 5ft x 4ft window to conservatory which is roofed with cavity perspex? Very much like this stuff:

(Just better than riggly plastic?)
