Hi all, I'd really appreciate some advice re finishes for the wood...

I have some lengths of solid teak (once used as upstands in a kitchen) that I thought would nicely finish off the counter-top in the en-suite I've just refurbished.... I used Briwax to get a nice finish & that has worked well apart from right by the washbasin...water-splashes soon made it look blemished.

Can anyone suggest a better product that will resist water-splashing messing up the overall look?

Varnish, maybe (???) or some oil type product maybe?

Cheers

Sorry but wax is no good for a wet environment it wil bloom and blemish for ever ,oil is very good everybody on this site has their favourite type and brand ,stick with the modern brands like danish oil finishing oil etc......stay away from old fasioned oiles like linseed, they are great but take a long time to go off and have lengthy application times.

Thankyou! ... I've stripped the wax off, so now I'll track down some danish or finishing oil locally & give that a try. I had wondered about linseed so I'm very glad I asked!!

Cheers
