AEG L87695WD Washer / Dryer

When I programme in a wash, dry or rinse cycle, it goes through the motions for just a few seconds then stops and displays a number 1 in the display. After a few seconds, the “1” changes to “0” and the door unlocks. No proper error code is displayed. Since the fault occurred, it has not gone away, i.e. it's NOT intermittent, so themachine is currently unusable. Any advice on this problem would be much appreciated - thanks in anticipation.

We always power off our washing machine so it resets. We found if left on at plug it throws up odd behaviour every few weeks. It is 8 years old though.

Sounds like it's running through the engineers cycle. Goes through everything in a few minutes and stops. It's so engineer can test everything and see if machine is working Vs waiting 3 hours for machine to run a full cycle.
That's why I said reset it to clear

Might also be debris in the inlet filter blocking water. Remove pipe and check.
Could also be pump. Remove and test.
That's about all you can do as a DIY person

jj4091: No, it's not in the user guide; it does have a list of error code meanings but this fault doesn't display an error code. I've checked the pump and drains already but thanks for your reply.
Wayners: Yes, we've tried powering off properly but to no avail. I have to check the inlet filter regularly, as it is prone to clogging (seems to be a design fault on this model). My money's on the motor brushes - I'm retired now but do have some electro-mechanical / electronics experience, although not specifically with washing machines. I've looked on-line for a service manual but no luck. Again, many thanks for your input.
