AEG washing machine problem

Hi, Can anyone help ???

I have inherited an AEG 74630 washing machine. When I plug it in all it will do is attempt to pump water out for a minute then stop. If I fill it with water is pumps the water out then stops.

Any ideas what might be wrong ?

Yes, not enough information for a start e.g. you just plug it in...., you don't switch it on, you don't select any program..................

Step by step...

Water supply is definitely ok, as is electric.
Turn dial to any program...display shows estimated time to completion
Press the now flashing Start/Pause button
Machine begins to drain water
drains for approx 3 minutes with Start/Pause button on (steady)
Stops draining and Start/Pause button starts flashing.
Display still shows estimated time (no Exx code)
Will stay like this for as long as you like.

Switch off....start again, different program, same result.

As a test...filled drum with water using hosepipe prior to switching on...all water drained out but otherwise same as above.
