Hello! I’ve recently (first time buyer) bought an 1880s mid terrace. I’ve identified a few places with penetrating damp - one of which seemed easily identifiable! The meter boxes on the wall outside had gaping holes around them… we’ve patched the holes, but how Soon could we expect to see a difference, if that was the cause? It seems to have travelled along the party wall from the front is there anything I can do to speed the drying?

Wall as it is, with contrast increased so tidemark is visible.

One of the holes behind meter, pre sealing.

thank you!

forogt to say - believe plaster is gypsum, either on top of or replacing original lime.

It will be a good few months drying out properly.

Well done of fixing the gaps, but that might not be the only place damp is getting in.
Are there pipes in the boxed in section in the wall corner?

Can you take a wider photo of the outside where this damp patch is, could other points of entry.

Is this a solid brick property or cavity? any idea of age?
