Hello,
We are looking to acquire a second hand Solid Fueld 4 (four) oven AGA that also provides domestic hot water (DHW). Note, we are not interested in a Rayburn, it is the original AGA models.
First question - does anyone know whether this particular combination is possible? It seems that the 4 oven solid fuel with DHW is just not something that is available on the second hand market.
Looking around, there seems to be plenty of Oil 4 ovens with the DHW option. However, due to the (unpredictable) cost of oil, and because I work from home, a solid fuel is a more sensible option.
So, second question - if we find a 4 oven solid fuel AGA, is it then possible to add a boiler into the unit for DHW? Again, it seems that this is fine for a 2 oven model, but seems not to be advisable / possible with a 4 oven model? Is this correct?
In my "extending the theory" type world, if a boiler / heat exchanger can be added on the back of combustion chamber of a 2 oven model, surely, this is the same idea on a 4 oven without dramatically changing the heat output.
Bascially, have seen a couple of 4 oven converted Soild Fuel to Oil AGAs, so hoping that we could take that, convert it back to Solid Fuel and add a boiler in the back to get to what we want!
Any helpful guidance on this would be very much appreciated. Basically, our existing oil boiler has given up the ghost and we have no heating in the kitchen now and relying soley on the immersion heater for hot water. Also, the existing LPG cooker is also gradually giving up the will to live! Looking to kill several birds with one stone here - replacement cooker, kitchen heating and hot water solution, hence a decent (but cheap!) AGA.
Thanks.
