We are looking at a AGA Natural GAS oven-traditional flue, in addition to the oven what other equipment will I need to price in?, or have removed from our 7 year old wall mounted boiler (which is on the ground floor) with a balanced flue , the hot water tank is upstairs 1st floor, in order to run a central heating system off the aga, info appreciated

Traditional AGAs only do the cooking not heating as well although their Rayburn brand does, but not really that well IMHO. There are a few other makes but they too are a bit of a compromise.

I would stick with a boiler for the CH and a separate cooker if you must however they are not ecomomical to run and some consider them to be not environmentally friendly, even embarassing in these days of environmental correctness.

on my investigations the Rayburn 480AG seems a good option of combining our boiler/cooker, but being able to switch it on and off when required, looks like I could also keep the existing hot water tank where is is, AGA seems to be slipping down if not off the the list

aga's/rayburns are old technology, low efficency and costly to buy. I would fit a modern boiler, ensure the house is well insulated and just get a conventional cooker. Unless you have money to burn that is. . . . . .

Doesn't make sense to me that you can still fit a standard efficiency rayburn but to fit any other standard efficiency boiler you've got to go through the whole horrendous points totting up to see if you can fit one.

Why not fit a 480 CD and benefit from the higher efficiency?

Its cos its sold as a cooker.

Makes you wonder how much money changed hands to ensure the loophole.

I would suggest you take a look at the Heritage Range cooker, I fitted one in my house in preference to an AGA, which I found frighteningly wasteful of energy and high in emissions.

We don't do installation work in your area; I suggest you look at the www.heritagecookers.co.uk web site for details and a local specialist.

If you are in Cornwall, the manufacturer has a showroom with the latest AGA, Rayburn, and Heritage cookers/boilers all running. They are an AGA/Rayburn dealer too, you see!
