ColJack Joined 16 Feb 2007 Messages 11,793 Reaction score 482 Location West Midlands Country 25 Jul 2010 #8 there are many exceptions to that rule.. in general any instance where the 2 letter combination is pronounced "ey" or "aye" it's "ei".. their neighbour weight eight etc.. there are exceptions to the "after c" bit too but these tend to be when the i and e are parts of separate syllables science society and of course for plurals of words ending in "cy" such as policies frequencies vacancies etc..

The 'i before e' thing is so mixed up you might as well forget about it. There or Their There, refers to something or a place. Their, is possessive. conny is over there watching the girls play football. Mod1 and Mod2 are playing with their balls.
