Hi,

We have had a new toilet fitted nearly where the old one was which results in 2 90 degree bends before it takes a 90 into the floor.

When the toilet is flushed, the pan fills up with water before emptying slowly. An air admittance valve was fitted which had no effect so it was moved to the other side of the toilet where it still has no effect.

If I stick my finger inside the valve and push the flap up, the toilet works fine every time but an unpleasant niff is blown out before drawing air back in.

The plumbers gave up on this and left. I thought of fitting a 32mm vent to outside but the builders have frowned on this idea.

Any suggestions?

Thanks :)

We were only replacing an existing so the BCO werent involved it is also on the ground floor if that makes a difference.

can that be added on in 32mm pipe to save running 4" all over the place?
Also, where should it be positioned in relation to the toilet?

Thanks

If your experiment with a 32mm vent works in that it allows enough air in and is vented to the outside, then who is to know! Sounds good to me. :p

Remove dergo and reduce from there straight up if poss !!
32 should be fine ..
can you take a pic of the set up ?

What connection in on the back of the toilet... is it a swept tee ??

If the vertical was to the left of the loo then that would be much better so coming off the loo you would have an elbow instead of a tee ..

it is a swept tee, the vertical section was originally on the left but was altered to as it is now when it didnt work in that position either. (if that makes sense)

Looks like it should work fine! are you sure the durgo is working ok.

I assume all three walls shown are not external walls! that's why they have put the vent internally.

the wall the toilet is fixed to is an external wall. Dont know why a durgo was fitted but it wouldnt be desirable to have to run a vent up to above the roofline, some 45 foot.
