Hello all knowing ones!
I live in an end terrace built circa 1895. It has a cellar and stone built walls. The House is built on a slope so the cellar height goes from a few cm's at the front of the property to 5ft ish at the rear. There is one entrance door on the outside of the property to access the cellar. I am having some minor damp...spot mould etc. and have been advised to install some airbricks (currently only one at back of property). This seems a very small job to get a builder in to do but being a stone built property the walls are actually very thick so I am not sure if it would be too much for a competent diyer to undertake? Also is there any formula for how many I should install? Would leaving the cellar door open give enough ventilation or would you all put in the airbricks?

Cheers

they use petrol driven angle grinders to cut kerb stones, if your wall stones are as solid...but the disks/cut's too large for an air brick.
A large core drill +lot of sweat may do but hire a decent demolition drill. I'd keep the hammer off to avoid creating cracks.

it can also be worth laying a new concrete floor with a dpc, this will reduce the amount of damp coming up through the ground.

In your case, if doing that, it would be worth excavating the old floor to make the cellar more usable.
