Folks,
If one heater (upstairs) builds up with air and is not bled, will it in time render itself incapable of emiting heat and then in time knock-out the other radiators, due the whole system building up with air?

Have you tried to light the (air).if its building up reguarly then its properley gas built up from the dirt, which is in there because it hasnt been treated,if its a open vent system,go and get some inhibator but first throw some cleanser in there and leave for a week or two, drain it out and put inhibator in and away you go. OR ITS JUST AIR,IM BORED

If the rad ends up completely full of air, it will not be warm at all. As you did not mention pressure loss, I assume it is an open vent. If this problem suddenly appeared, without any work done on the system, my guess is sludge build up. If the feed and expansion pipe have horizontal runs, they can work okay when clean but when sludge starts creating blockages, this sort of thing could happen. More details would make it easier to be more accurate
