Air lock in pipe

Hi hope someone can help. Plumber came round to fix leaking cistern and also fixed a crack piped. He ran the water out to fix it and after he left the cold taps in the bathroom have stopped working and the loo won't fill up.

The cold taps are connected to a shared tank in an upstairs loft that we don't have access too but have been told it's fine.

We've been too it's an airlock but we have pumped water in to the tap and bleed the radiators. Now water dribbles out or flows normally for a about 10secs then stops.

If someone could help would be appricated

I'd recommend calling a local plumber to do a free system check, and quote you a price.

Just don't let anyone do the repairs there're and then, or you could be stuck with an incompetent plumber trying to take advantage of a situation.

forget the rads, how did you pump the water into the tap?

There is a tap somewhere that was turned off but not turned back on.

No I don't think so the plumber didn't switch any water off

@Nige F sorry re-read this.we pumped it in by using a hose pipe from the cold tap in the kitchen to the bath tap.

OK you did right, perhaps just "pump" it in for longer - could be a long run of pipe down from that storage tank, you need to blow the air back into the tank . Keep trying

We've tried it, we pumped water in to the tap for around half an hour. There was some spluttering and the water came though for about 20 secs then a thin flow again. Have tried putting thumb over tap too but no avail. Will have to call another plumber.

Emma, if you use a communal cistern in the loft then you should have right of access to the tank, regardless of what anyone else has done to that space.

Did the plumber who performed the repair ensure that you had running water to all appliances once he was finished?

What you did should have worked if it was a straightforward air lock on pipe that exclusively feeds your bathroom from this shared tank, which leads to me think that something else may be going on.
