air lock or so i'm told

hi can anyone help?i have an escort zetec and its only blowing cold air even wen heater is on hot and its losing water,i have to top up every time i go out in it.wen the water is getin low i can feel it gets slightly warm.please help

First you'll have to find out where it's losing water from. When you've cured that you can worry about the heater although it's most likely linked to the water loss.

er thanx for that but its losing water due to the pressure caused by the air lock i'm sure.i just need to know how to get rid of the air lock.any answers anyone?thanks

the air lock wont be causing the water loss,as already said you need to trace the leak first,any signs of water in the front footwells?

Check the pipes leading to your heater matrix.
If they are sound and have water in them do as the previous poster advised check for wet carpet.

Heater matrix is the usual culprit for leaking and not showing any sign under the car as your lovely carpet soaks it up.

hi checked and no water and carpets dry still losing water slowley and air still cold

Are the matrix pipes hot?
Just out of interest check the oil cap and make sure you have no mayo on it as this would indicate your head gasket has gone
