Let's get the painitg out of the way first. It wasn't my finest hour but I need to clean some of those tiles. Obviously!

I recently replaced my old in-line bath fan and grill (grill removed in this picture). The plasterboard was damaged and I filled and painted that in the process.

As you can see, the grill does not sit flush because I can't get a fixing into this. The hole is probably slightly oversized but the fixing hole would be very close to the edge of a perfectly cut hole too. Additionally, it has the flexible hose above, pulling it towards the fan as I wanted to keep that quite torque to avoid water collecting in the pipe. I also don't have the space in this part of the loft (near eave) to go up with a solid duct and then across with the flexible

In my frustration, i did try Sticks Like Sh*t but that also didn't hold. Probably just as well, as this may need to be removed for maintenance, etc.

Can I get some advice please. Thanks in advance.

I can only access the area above this from the hole in the bathroom. It's inaccessible from the top.
I think I will stick a few batons by passing them through the hole in the bathroom and aim to align the screw holes with the positioning of these. I am hoping that I can use the Stick Like Sh*t for sticking these batons on.

UPDATE - well chuffed with this guys. It was wonky for years! Genius solution with the wood above the ceiling. Thanks again.
