I have a Baxi Bermuda 552 back boiler located in the living room fireplace but I can't find an air vent in the room. The existing windows & doors are not well sealed, which is why I suppose I'm still alive. The boiler was installed in 1988 I believe.

The installation manual calls for an air vent of 90 sq cm or 14 sq in. Is this what I should get fitted or does it now have to be bigger? If someone could point me at a suitable product I'd be grateful.

A standard size air vent would be 100cm2. The easiest to fit is a 5" core vent type, supplied as a kit with a liner.

Something like a Stadium Black Hole with baffle removed would do.

stadium also do a floor vent, approx 10" x 5", giving 100cm2, can be fitted if sub floor is vented adequately, you can also buy plastic window vents (approx £23) which will fit in timber windows, manufactured by SSF in Ireland and supplied from various outlets

Thanks for the responses. One further question; the boiler is rated at 21kW (maximum) which Stadium reckon needs 70 sq cm of vent. Can I use a vent this size or do I have to install a 90sq cm one as specified by the boiler manufacturer?

Manufacturers instructions over ride any thing else.

Air vents have to be sized for input value of appliances and not output.
