I think I recently read that they are upping the 140 day let requirements for rate relief as a business to something like 250+ days per year (in Wales only at the moment). It does affect some seaside towns and popular tourist holiday locations as people buying for AirBnB/holiday rentals (as opposed to general full time BTL) is making these areas unaffordable for locals and turning them into ghost towns and dead zones for businesses in the off peak seasons. In some seaside resorts off peak, we've seen whole streets full of empty properties with holiday cottage rental signs on them.

Same thing happening in big cities in Italy.
Finding a residential home to rent in Milan is now virtually impossible.
