Hi,
I am planning to install some extra airbricks in my end-terrace 1900s house. It has 9" solid walls, and only one front and one back airbrick at present.

As far as I understand, all that I have to do is remove an outer and inner brick, and fit the new airbrick in place. My questions:

- will the outer & inner brick line up?
- as it is a solid wall, do i just put the airbrick in the place of the outer brick and leave the inner brick space free without any sleeve?
- are there any structural considerations I should be aware of?

Thanks,
Chris

we have 30cm/12 inch stone walls in a c1901 house.

Not sure if they are done 'correctly' but the air bricks are on the outside with a channel knocked out through to the interior - no sleeves or support (the air bricks are not original).

In theory they are likely to be lined up, all mine were. I drilled the mortar around each brick all the way through and used a bolster chisel to remove the brick. Surprisingly easy. There are no structural issues if you think about what 1 brick is actually supporting. You just need your airbrick on the outside, you only need a sleeve if you have a cavity wall.
