I have a British Gas system but don't use it and don't want to. The transformer in the box hums loud enough to be annoying at night. How can I shut down the whole system?
Hum will be from the transformer. If there are screws holding the transformer they will need tightening. However to power down the mains will have to be isolated and the battery in the control box disconecting and also the battery in the external sounder (as soon as mains and battery is off the sounder will activate !!
Do it in the middle of the day. Remove the fuse at the spur. Disconnect the panel battery. The outside siren will sound for about 18 mins then shut down. That's it. Done.
