I currently have no ceilings in the majority of my house so i'm taking the opurtunity to install alarm cables while its easy. i'm not fitting an alarm yet just putting the cables in.

I've got 6 core cable and i'm going to run a single cable from where the control panel will be to each point - windows, doors, passives, a keypad and a smoke alarm point. Is this correct?

thanks in advance.

Most certainly, this is best practice, makes changes and fault finding much easier.

Don't forget to run the odd spare cable as well, you never know when something else will be required, take them to central points that can be got at in the future.

Nope 6 core will be fine for PIRs, door contacts, shock sensors, keypads, speakers, microphones, bell boxes, push to set buttons, panic buttons, smoke alarms.

You might want to run a telephone cable from the BT master socket to the panel too if think you might want it to have some sort of signalling such as an auto dialler etc.
