Just in the process of getting a new Alarm / Fire Alarm i want to satify th 17th that Fire alarms are on a separate circuit NON RCD or RCBO Though if this is connected directly with a 3 amp switch do you still need an additional fuse spur?

If the circuit is 'less than 50mm below the surface then it will need RCD or RCBO.

Unless clipped to the surface!!!

What you ideally need is an unprotected way on your CU where you can use an RCBO to provide this protection!!

If the RCBO is 6A then fuse down using a FCU to 3A

can you get 3A breakers for a CU?

you need a local point of isolation.. this is usually a FCU next to or near the panel..

MK do them. Someone (cannot remember who) does a 1A breaker.

Protek!!!!!

They do SP MCB's in B C and D curves in the following sizes:

1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50 and 63A

They also do 80 and 100A SP MCB's in C & D curves.

[quietly rests on laurels] ;)

Bah! Cannot find piccys of Protek breakers despite desperate trawling of interwebby...

Does Mr duckett mean a fire alarm panel, or a smoke alarm?

I mean alarm panel with fire detectors added too it i was hoping as it is to be mounted next to the CU that the need for a spur might not be needed but in my hast i don't think MK make RCBO below 6amp (CU not split way) so spur it is
