Hope someone can help!
I have a pumped system and have recently fitted a new pump which didn't seem to cure the problem as the 3 Rads upstairs are still cold including the connecting pipes. After draining them they didn't seem to refill. I left the bleed valves out and gave the pump a whirl which caused some gurgling and then they refilled but very slowly. I suspect a blockage. I'll remove the rads and flush them but i remember doing this not so long ago so i think the blockage may be in the pipework. If this is the problem how would i best flush the pipework any tips?

I have read elsewhere also that you have to balance the system. I think I may have to do this after the above problem has been rectified. How would i best do this. I have TRV's on most of the rads does this make a difference?

Did you open the 3 port valve when you refilled the system.?
Do all rads have water when bleeding? :D

excuse my lack of knowledge, where would i find the 3 port valve?
Yes all radiators bled fine apart from the three i had been having the problems with upstairs.

You do have a fully pumped system with a cylinder for your hot water don't you?
Check your smaller tank first and see that it has water in it.

You will find the valve on the pipework between the cylinder and pump. :)

Yes my system is as described. The valve is the 3 way diverter valve but i didn't think this had a bleed on it?
I checked the tank in the loft, the ballcock is working fine and there is water in it

Can anyone help with the best way to flush the pipework?

Try running a magnet along your pipes to see if you have a blockage.
If so attach a hose to your drain valves down stairs and open (tie your ball valve up first)
I suspect you have not refilled your rads properly and that you probably have an airlock
After you have flushed (as I know you are dying to do it) ensure all rads are filled with water, bleed and turn off all your rads bar 1 problem one and run your system. This should push out any airlock, then do same to others.
When they are all working, balance them (do a search)
Hope this cures it :D
