All-in ballast: ratio of sand to aggregate

R

Is there a standard ratio of sand to ballast of 1:2 in all-in ballast?

That would be necessary if you were making a concrete mix of 1 part cement, 2 parts sand, 4 parts aggregate.

Thanks.

Store bought all-in ballast has got to be 1 part sand, 2 parts aggregate.

Right! :D

So, no-one knows if all-in ballst is standard at 1 part sand 2 parts aggregate.

I think it must be, but I'll check with supplier.

Okay, I was talking with an aggregate supplier.

All-in ballast is a natural product. It comes out of the ground.

So, no-one knows for sure what the ratio to sand and gravel is exactly. Because it is not a mixed product.

But inspectors must be happy with it. They don't balk if cement is made with natural all-in ballast.

Just one more thing. I bet no inspector ever has a problem if you use natural all-in ballast to make your concrete.

Even though it is not a "controlled mixed" product.
