The boiler seems to have an intermittent fault. It frequently turns itself off and needs to be restarted by flicking the reset switch. The fault is irregular and sometimes the boiler stays on for several hours while at other times it stays on for around 15 minutes before switching off again. When the boiler switches off there is no heating or hot water. When it is on the heating and water are hot. The heating engineer could find no fault when he was here twice because he flicked the boiler on and (of course) it stayed on! Any advice as to what could be causing the fault?

if its not locking out id be thinking the thermistor
