Alternative for acetone?

Hiya,

I am going to re-roof my roof by using fiberglass. I got most of the stuff needed. However, I notice that they use acetone to clean the trim before applying the resins. Can I skip this part or is there any alternative?

Can i use the white spirit instead of acetone as to clean the trim?

I don’t have an answer, more of a question... why don’t you use acetone? It’s what is recommended.

I would, it's just that i got white spirit with me now rather than make an order and wait for another couple of days before i could start the job.

I find white spirit leaves some residue behind, so really wouldn't use it to clean something ready to be bonded!

I don't know. Has anyone used this? However, I got this as well in my camping box. If meths is ok, then it's good news for me.
