Am I doing it wrong or the bottle just poor ?

So I use the two stroke bottle as shown.
I fill the bottle up to the petrol tank sign which is the 1 litre.
I always use a 50:1 mix so looking at the bottle it advises you to fill it up to the 50:1 mark.
Doing so makes all my stuff smoke bad.

Looking up how much oil is in a 50:1 mix it’s 20 ml.
So what I do is add 1 litre of fuel to the petrol tank sign.
Then add 20 ml of oil.
Never smokes at all.

I have one of those mixing bottles and I measured the markings by filling it with water from more reliable marked containers, and it was not that accurate. So I suspect it is the bottle

However using the markings my chainsaw runs okay, so it is not an issue for me.
