Stephen Wiltshire from London is a star among savants. Stephen is autistic. He did not speak his first words "pencil" and "paper" until he was 5. Yet, when he was 11 he drew a perfect aerial view of London after only one helicopter ride.

For this film we're testing the "Living camera" in Rome. He has never been to Rome but after a 45 minute helicopter ride, he spent 3 days and put on a canvas 5 1/2 yard long of Rome in vivid details!

Is it just a marketing ploy? Do they shine a projector on the paper when the camera doesn't roll?

I saw that years ago, the most amazing thing to me was that he started in the top left hand corner and just scribbled his way across the page. When they analized the picture every building had the correct amount of windows etc and relationships were all in scale.

It's not an art form but a very peculiar ability,

I saw something similar about him, he drew the houses of parliment after looking at them for a few minutes....the detail was unreal!...sure its the same lad
 
Why else would they use a curved surface? Landscape artists use flat ones. Somebody's out to make money. ;)

Come on guys - smell the coffee.

1. If you know anything about photography then you know that when you make a panoramic view you have to have a curved surface or you get parallax error. That's why he's drawing on a curved canvas.

2. The reason he is drawing from below rather than level is that the projector can then shine over his head.

3. When they superimposed the photo over his drawing to show his accuracy - how did they manage to get a photo taken at exactly the same point, elevation etc to the IMAGE IN HIS HEAD?

They didn't did they? The photo was taken and projected onto the curved canvas - he simply copied it and THAT is the reason it superimposed perfectly.

It's a swizz - a money making scam - and you lot fell for it.

Oh and if you really wanted to paint a city from memory the last thing you'd do is go round in circles in a flippin helicopter.
 
Autistic people have this amazing memory and recall, that Joe 90, seems to have the negative. I find it disgusting that Joe90 is dismissing this so much, and leads me to believe his lack of intelligence, and understanding of the common world, that I believe that Joe90 is effectually, mentally deranged by his random comments, and cannot justify his statements, on every post he makes, therefore clarifying his mental instability. The comments made are innapropriate, and without justification, and never clarified, or justified.

As Joe90, is obviously an admin, and therefore provokes intolerence towards members, then I suggest a blanket ban of anything that Joe 90 says, until other admin ban this fool from posting his tripe further, which is causing fractions within 'normal' members..

If he isn't part of the admin team, then, I fail to understand how his random, cutting, racist, offensive remarks havent been removed, as he seems to be vetting himself. And going unchecked.

You believe what you like mate - and I'll do likewise. Who paid for the helicopter trip - and more importantly - why?

Oh and you aint 'normal' mate. Are you on nights again?
