Read the paper the other day?

One emergency paramedic crew that was on its way to a 999 call stopped to help a man who had been injured by a mob, and while they were treating him, the mob burst into the waggon and murdered him.......

Not a new problem this unfortuately, the same happens with the firemen too. I can remember being near Stockport about 15 years ago. We were recovering a broken down ambulance when some p**s heads started abusing the crew and trying to get in the cab.We had to put a rope on the ambulance and drag it down the road a bit to escape from them. The drivers assistant empted his fire extinguisher onto them then threw the empty container at them too! This was all in front of the police who were at the scene of a fight at a pub. The driver was unperturbed really and said he had seen much worse including being threatened with a knife by a drunken patient. Terrible what are services have to put up with.

In Southend A&E hospital they have bodyguards to protect the staff's mainly on Fri/Sat/Sun nightshift. This is why I don't understand the 24 hrs drinking, more hassles.

Personally, I cant see how the new opening is going to reduce problems. If people are intent on getting drunk or causing problems they will still do it. Now they have an even longer period in which to get even more drunk.

The residents who live near drinking establishments now have the problem of rowdy people leaving at all hours rather than at 11:30/2:00am. At least you knew you could get some kip then.

The police, ambulance etc will need more resources for cover over these new extended periods, even more tax to pay to fund them.

It seems to me that these young thugs who attack ambulance staff etc, must resent authority. Wearing a uniform is seen as a statement of authority.

I don't know why this government are keen to push it through or am'I missing something here, does it create more employment ?????

lets get this straight, the government wants to ban yob culture and wants to be lilly livered about enforcing pubs that will become a problem. why will they become a problem? oh theyre relaxing the licensing laws. Whose relaxing them...the government. Simple solution to the problem then or am i missing something?????????? Once more the bleedin obvious makes more sense than a government think tank

We'll pay through increased council tax and less Police doing what we expect, due to the requirement to police the watering holes.
I sadly believe that 'lobbyists' get more action than the voter in Parliament ... Why do banks and the like get instant Police attention in the event of robbery ? They have a huge 'lobby' for protection, the old pensioners robbed of possessions count for little to officialdom.

The reason they get instant police attention is that to carry out a robbery at somewhere like that with all the security they have, takes a serious minded criminal and a high level of violence or the threat of violence and usually a weapon. Therefore the police response is appropriatley hieghtened. Thats why a robbery is classed as a serious arrestable offence under the statute books.

So the drug crazed moron who breaks into your home in the early hours of the morning armed with whatever he can get his hands on is not a 'serious minded criminal'. He's desperate to get his next fix and will do anything to achieve it.

A case for all emergency services to wear vests, I think.

Never gonna get better, without some kind of firm, maybe unpalitable action.
Youth having it too easy .... and don't they hate the reality that they are poor saps being used as a conduit for dosh by the breweries -- just so they can mingle and get out of their poor little heads ..... Then cry that they cannot afford mortgages -- what about the wasted dosh then ?

I know a family who do not work. They have 6 kids, 4 foreign hols pa, they both smoke, have all the luxury goods you can think of, Sky, PC's DVD's iPods etc.... both have 54 plate cars.

AND THEY MOAN THAT THE GOVT TREATS THEM BADLY!!!!!!!

1954 ? or even fifty four cars ?

Oh, this modern nonsense -- ok !

They called you in for a bit of 'freemans' lectrics yet ? Or do I sense what the answer just might be !! :D ;)

nstreet in reply to your question yes he is a serious criminal. All forces should treat any call with a person who is armed with whatever way with an appropriate response, to deal with the level of violence. I freely admit however that the public does get let down on occasion.
