An Unknown Error Has Occurred

When my wife tries to delete items from the "Deleted Items" folder, a window pops up with the message "An unknown error has occurred, contact Windows Communities". The actual message disappears, but the title (sender, subject and date etc) remains. However, this only happens with some e-mails, others are deleted completely without problem. Any ideas out there?

Your gonna have to tell us which e-mail software you are using as more than one is available.

Did a google search on the message....If it's the client that's bundled with Vista (Outlook Express ?) it looks like there isn't a solution other than move to the Windows Live Mail program....this is still in beta though.

You could try Mozilla Thunderbird as an alternative.

Have tried this before but here goes again, it isn't difficult, but one error one question is gonna push you down the road toward limited use of your computer - get into this searching business, have given you loads of griff before, now I am using it and I have found some answers, excellent starting places.

That is interesting, all the titles have windows mail in them.. something to with searching for intitle:"windows mail" ??

Choose : 'Windows Vista Help: Working with Windows Mail'

At Working with Windows Mail
Top right hand box enter windows mail +deleting mail hit the 'go' button.

Thank you Empip yet again. In the first part of your opening sentence, are you saying that if I put a step wrong following these procedures, I could damage my computer beyond repair?

Nah, I meant that you can use the tools which have been thrust at you - searchwise - otherwise you'll be tripping at every teeny hurdle, there are too many steps required to take one at a time - dive in and 'have a go'.
you'll be surprised... Someone usually has done, seen and fixed it, could be the combination of several ideas will get you clear.
