If I've understood my research correctly, I think I want M12 sleeve anchors about every 500mm along my 4x2 joist, that I'm going to attach to my house and have act as the first joist of my deck. Given that I'm using 100x47mm joists with a 10mm spacer-washer into the outer skin of a cavity wall, I would have guessed I needed a length of about 100mm ... is that enough?

Does that sound about right? Not done anything like this before, so advice much appreciated.

you need more fixing in the wall. 50mm joist plus 10mm spacer is 60mm so only 40mm in the wall is no good.

I would use a 150mm fixing and a screw type is better when using a spacer. like a concrete screws or thunder bolt

Apologies for not replying sooner, but thank you for that. Sounds like I'll pick up some of these Thunderbolts then :)
