annoying/dangerous activites while driving....

I started to reply to another thread, but it wasnt exactly the same subject.
talking on a cell phone while driving--unless you have a "hands free" set up, I am against them....but even then a lot of folks (its a standing joke in southern states....we talk with our hands) cant multi task. It makes me uneasy being behind them...chattin away, oblivious to on coming traffic...
your views? (not just cell phones)

I went to the chip shop yesterday dinner an was nearly run over by a young girl in her car , she was talking on her mobile phone ,an wasnt watching the road , I jumped back on the kerb an she slowed down an gave me a mouthful , cheeky b*tch
I would of put her over my knee if she had stopped ..lol

Talking on a hand held is illegal over here, but a lot of people still do it, probably because they know there are hardly any prosecutions. It'd be nice to see a few tickets being given. I reckon it could easily be done standing on a bridge with binoculars and camera, or roadside in towns.

if you think about it, most of us multi task while driving anyway....music playing...(song in your head)..eating and drinking (non alcohol)...watching the road....eyes going constantly....thinking...swearing to oneself (at other multi taskers)....experience drivers even have trouble....and applying makeup, making out your banking slip...reading a map and talking on cell...it's a wonder any of us is alive to tell about it.

One of the checks following an RTA ( Road Traffic Accident )... mobile usage.
Ensure you carry a reasonable watch, correctly set, whilst driving, if and when the VIP using his / her moby hits you, try to note that time.... Moby records will confirm or deny usage.
What happens if you have RTA whilst talking on a hands free? You could very well be in a pickle anyway !!

speaking of hands free cells.....i dont have one...but how would anyone be able to tell you were talking on it...and not talking to yourself...or singing

Records of calls made and received are retained by service providers.

I believe they can also glean enough info to reasonably accurately find the user's location.

I have wondered how they prove you were actually talking / using the phone ... perhaps there is a means of proving actual data communication flow...

I also wonder about the position of the call recipient, if subsequently questioned about the call... In terms of being truthful or not.

that is annoying.....interrupting a perfectly normal breakfast behind the wheel and you could have slit your throat!....rude people!

perhaps a contact device on steering wheels that at least one hand must be in contact at all times otherwise the brakes gradually slow the vehicle down to a stop with hazard lights blazing announcing to any cops nearby that the driver has been very naughty and should be ticked off.

Incidentally, that was exactly a year ago on Thursday - doesn't time fly? One year of my ban served, one and a half to go...
