I was wondering if any of you have any ideas.

I have this guy sitting about 10 feet from me at work, let's call him "Annoying sinus bloke" or ASB. ASB constantly sniffs, presumably with some sort of sinus problem. I feel sorry for the guy, I hate having a blocked-up nose but it is driving me frickin' mad.

Surely someone here has had sinus problems and tried everything, so do any of you know:

a) some sort of subtle remedy that would clear his sinuses, e.g. some sort of air freshener-type thing (candles and incence probably a bad idea, I'm not sure the air-conditioning and fire sensors would be too keen)

b) a less subtle remedy that would clear his sinuses, that I could plonk a packet of on his desk (Tunes? Lockets? Jeyes fluid?)

c) or perhaps something more subtle to say than "Oi, Sniffles! Breathe through your mouth before I pop-rivet your nostrils shut... with a brick!"

Create yourself a hotmail account under a false name. Find lots of sinus related products and pages on the net and email him the links to these pages:cool:

Oh, I sympathise, I had to sit opposite a bloke once at work, who had a terribly sinusey whingey whiney little voice, and seemed to start every sentence with the word basically. I once overheard him complaining to a photo developing company about the quality of his wedding prints (Take heart Adam, there really must be some desperate women out there!! (Not that you're desperate of course :D)) It sounded exactly like an angry nerd complaining about a faulty toaster in woolworths.

There are few people in the world who genuinely annoy me, but I could have gladly kicked nine shades of excreta out of this bloke.

I'm sure the fellow himself is annoyed and also a bit embarassed about it himself.

Oh, undoubtedly, which is why I don't say anything. But it is doing my head in to the extent I considered bringing it up in my personnel review "My performance would have been far better without someone snorting away 20 times a minute"

What I am hoping is that someone who has tried everything for their own sinus problems could recommend something I could subtly chuck on his desk when he's not there. Something that they found worked.

We've all heard stories of smelly people being left a can of deodorant, surely a packet of Tunes is far less likely to cause embarassment!

how about breaking the ice with "you sound like you are suffering a bit"
and if he mentions he's tried everything, say you had a friend whose doctor prescribed beconase and it with persistance it seemed to work.

He could be sniffing to give you the hint that either

You aint brushed your teeth

Your feet stink

You stink

Might be similar thread on another forum saying how do i drop the hint that my work collegue stinks

How about placing a onion, cut in half, on little plate on his desk. That clears the sinus (although it will increase the 'dripping' and sniveling first, but then it will get better).

Sounds like an interesting idea! Although I think people would be more bothered by the smell of the onion.

Could be worse--ever been with someone who continually picks their nose and eats it---i have but not for long felt sick all the time

Try dropping a pack of 'Sudafed' on his desk. I have sinus pain sometimes and it sure clears that up quick. Not the cheapest tho' :!:

Try pinning him down on the floor and then, using a syringe, squirt sea water straight up his nose. It will clear it in seconds, seriously. Its the best stuff for a blocked nose. He'll appreciate it in the long run.
