Hi, I am in the process of placing decking down on my concrete patio in my back garden. Initially I was going to use 47x100mm joists, but I have a 120mm rise at the end of the patio onto the garden. What I want to do is use joists that are 100mm x 100mm and then 38mm high decks, this should mean I have about 20-30mm (or more clearance), but I will not lie below the level on the ground. Does this sound like a reasonable approach?

THanks

PS - Any recommendations on cheap/decent suppliers for joists/decks?

why dont you use the 100 x 47 on its edge & save yourself a few quid ?

how is going from 100x47 to 100x100 going to save height? Confused.....
