Trying to assist a neighbour who seems to be getting little help from the installer.

The panel was installed in 2016 with an analogue dialler that sent a text when activated. That has stopped working with the installer blaming "new telephones". In fact the PSTN service is still active & I've just learnt from Pyronix (& confirmed by the forum), that the Vodafone TAP service has shut down.

Previous threads suggested possible alternatives but the links are now dead.

The installer is very keen to install a Digi Air GSM dialler & insisting on maintenance & monitoring fees on top. But give the installation address has very poor signal, it's probably not a great option anyway. So a few questions please for those in the know:

Is there an alternative TAP service still alive & well?

If so, would this work with an ATA/VOIP, as the line will have to go VOIP anyway in the not too distant future? I'm guessing the service just uses CLI to identify the source & spits out a text to the registered number. That sounds like it should work unless it's actually more complicated?

Is there an ethernet/WiFi option for panels of this age? If not, is there a more economical option than the Digi Air, or would it be better to bite the bullet & upgrade the panel?

Just bite the bullet and buy a upgrade kit for around £100 relearn everything on and use the app first year free then £36 per year , no further costs and full control of the alarm

TAP is dead , you might find a third party supplier but the cost of each message could be ridiculous …

Thanks for the input. By upgrade kit, are you talking about upgrading the panel by adding something to it or replacing it completely? Either way I'd be grateful for specifics as last time I enquired with the installer about moving to VOIP, they wanted £150 to install a GSM dialler + monitoring fees. That was three years ago.

DIY seems problematical given Pyronix won't deal with Joe Public.

Edit
A bit more digging has found the v11 upgrade kit. Presumably installing this would break the hold the installer currently has over the installation? Just need to check the current panel is late enough to upgrade, as it seems to suggest it's only for v9/v10.
