Hi I asked here about a toilet in my extension some regulars might remember how my builder dropped a vertical pipe into the top of the clay pipe and you told me it’s not ideal due to it been a straight drop, I’ve decided I might be better to try and do this properly because the clay pipe he attached to seems like it runs down the whole street and I really don’t wanna block that, it’s to late for should haves so it’s probably going to be difficult and I might get someone in I’m just wanting some info on how big a job it is and maybe a rough price.
So on the picture I’ve uploaded is what I know is there the man hole is at the side of my extension about 200mm away from the brick, my extension is 400mm higher that the outside ground level so you can see the lower harder bricks on the outside, there are 2 clay pipes running under my extension one of which has the pipe that my builder added, the extension is 5m across.
to get a pipe from my toilet to the manhole it would be 5m across then the 400mm down then the 1000mm down I presume the manhole is, it would have to penetrate the lower bricks, I know for sure that when the footing were poured he left the clay pipes exposed and back filled with a lintel across it the brick on top so I at least know there’s no concrete to go through, I’ve no idea on flow direction.
I guess it will be a absolute nightmare to dig the small gap between the house and the manhole especially now there’s a floor down but anything is doable. My original soil stack is probably too far away, I could go diagonaly across my extension 45 degree into original house then a further 4m across to get to under the floor but it could defiantly fit a T in there on the stack but total run would be at least 8m, I could easily get fall.
if any of you guys were to look at this what would you suggest, like I say it’s to late for should haves it was a last minute add on the toilet and had I know more I’d have got a plumber in as he did this pipe for free
I don’t understand why there are 2 clay pipes would one be just mine and the other belong to my neighbour, his man hole is off set to mine but the 2 clay pipes line up with my man hole so I presume his man hole joins to mine (see pic top drawing to the left) I’ve no idea what happens to the pipes after they go into my joined on neighbour. The builder had the man hole cover up so he must have looked at what pipe is what.
I can’t talk to the building inspector as it’s not in my name I feel like just capping the vertical pipe of and giving up but a downstairs shower would be great, I just want to make sure that it’s all going to work right, if it was only my sewer I’d care a lot less but I’m not wanting to block a shared pipe. I’ve added pics of my original soil under floor boards in main house. And proposed run to original stack.
Anyway please help haha
