After carrying out an extension for a few years (mostly self build) I have decided to knock another walk down (major balls up that it wasn't done when the original steels went in I know)
At the back of the original part of the house 3 steels were fitted.
As I want to knock another wall down I have to instal 1 bigger steel under 2 of them and have a 't junction' for my other steel to come off. As I am on my own I will pay a builder to fit the steel but he wants me to do the supporting and knocking down before the steel arrives. I have included pics-
Using acros/ strong boys is it ok to hold this sort of weight for what could be a few weeks (bearing in mind we are living above) . On the pics it's the left hand and middle steels. Then the 'now internal' left hand wall will be knocked down. One side has a timber bearing plate which I thought would have to come out but he thinks it will stay - there is no wall above it so only 2 courses of brick work when chemical bolts ( I thought it wouldn't break apart)
Any advise on spacing out acros, holding up the floor joists very much appreciated.
