Antiference HDMI over cat5e/cat6

Anyone use these little devices that send HDMI over a single cat5e cable?

I've got a pair, and they work fine for the HDMI. However I cant seem to get the IR signal to work in the reverse direction.

I emitters are notoriously fragile. Connecting and disconnecting 'hot' i.e. which the TX/RX boxes powered up can be enough to kill an emitter.

Note that these "eyes" will probably work only with devices that use the standard Philips RC-5 protocol. Devices that use IrDA protocol are probably not compatible. Check your equipment manual for the technical specification or ask the supplier.
