Antivirus 2009

How do you remove this intimidating threat?
It's keeps giving a blue screen, and upsets what I am doing, this has only come aboute since accepting automatic updates.I will not be bullied into paying for something I don't want.

Add/Remove programs, uninstall it, then start -> run type compmgmt.msc go into the services disable Antivirus 2009 I seem to remember arsing about with it quite a bit, and it would insist that I had viruses / spyware installed, despite the fact to ZA said everything was clean.

As Softus said, Spybot S&D should remove it but if not thendownload
Malwarebytes
Use the green download button to get the free version.
Install, update it and run a quick scan.

It made my Spybot S&D inoperative.

Tony's link is the place to go, my kids caught this & bleepingcomputer.com's stuff fixed it.

Took the excuse to clear a load of other carp off their PC's & do a thorough scan while I was fixing it.
