Anyone know what these electrical plug adaptors are for?

I have these but have no idea what they are for, anyone know?

The inverter should have the protruding parts that connects to some sort of socket in the adaptor, as shown with @Mottie example, but the one you show seems to have exposed live parts if plugged in without the inverter connected, which is clearly dangerous.
 
It looks to me like the contacts are at the bottom of a slot, so not directly touchable. I would agree though that many of these plug heads have the live contacts a lot closer to the surface than a typical socket does.

I guess the mitigating factor is that you aren't supposed to plug in the plug head when it's not attatched to the adapter.
 
It was near the time when a Microsoft pro was bought but still doesn't seem right for anything. I may ask a colleague who ordered them. It's just baffling me as I have a curious nature.

Does it not fit the MS Pro charger?

Typically, they slide off/on according to which country's wall sockets you need to deal with. Often, there is a push button to engage the release tab, you then slide the fitting up.
 
Mystery solved, thanks though. I came across the box for them. Charger / power cable and adapters (although for a different kind of pro, but at least it has satisfied my curiosity!)
