Hi All,

Just uncovered this whilst doing a flat refurb.

Anyone have an idea as to what the pipe coming into the fireplace is? Property doesnt have gas supply. Not even sure why such a pipe would be there for a wood burning fireplace?

I cant see where the pipe leads off too.

Worth salvaging, useful to anyone?

There's 2 pipes, it'll be an old Back Boiler for heating a Water Tank, possibly some radiators. Unlikely to be of any use now, (other than for scrap), be careful when removing, there may be some lovely black sludge and water left in it. This will stain and ruin anything it touches.

Thanks hugh. That makes sense as the pipe seems to be going through to the room behind where there is a cupboard that houses a modern imersion tank. So at some point in the past there must have been the original water tank and that pipe must have gone into it.

Thanks for the info Hugh, have heard of back boilers, but never really seen one. Now I know. Cheers!
