Hi,
Has anyone ever come across this?
I have what I originally thought was an old boiler flu. But it doesn’t go up to the ceiling above. Instead it appears to be support for the joist of the house. I’ve included two photos. The one with the brickwork is the top of the support / pillar where you can see the joist end before the wall.
My questions are. Could this still be an old boiler flu and therefore contain asbestos?
Can I remove it and secure the joist to the wall with a bracket?
Many thanks
Nick
