Anything missing from under roof tiles?

I am moving into a council how and when i had a look in the loft, i can see the roof tiles! Im not experianced in roofs etc but every loft i have been in have had some kind of material that the roof tiles were on and so could not see the tiles from in the loft.

Are the pics normal or should i get onto the council about it?

there should be felt, but depends on age of roof.

allthough it looks like its had some kind of foam coating sprayed on but...from what i can work out...not done correctly..!

thanks, ill get the council to come out and have a look at it then just to be safe.

That's mortar not foam and millions of older houses do not have felt and do not leak. Nowt to worry about there unless the tiles or their fixings are towards the end of their life.

I guess your right, never seen motar with slate.
