I have an apollo 40B boiler. The pilot is lit but the burners will not ignite

Could be an external control fault i.e programmer or motorised valve? or could be a fault within the boiler case, without being there it would be impossible to diagnose, so call a registered Gas Engineer to have a looky see

If the switched live is present at the boiler and it won't fire, it can be the gas valve, either of the fixed control thermostats, or the limit 'stat. I once had one of these with a wire broken inside the insulation near the limit 'stat. You should call a professional.
