what is the best method for sealing a joint between 2 sheets of this stuff,is a bead of silicone an acceptable method,im going to apply a tanking product to the walls before tiling also which side out for the tiles,im assuming its the rough side?

Think that it's smooth side out - just going to take a look...
... yep, that's how I've done it! on my sheets the smooth side is a darkish grey, the rougher side lighter and has the visible matting. is Let me know if I got it wrong!

How big are your gaps? I was just going to leave mine (few mm at most) since they're going to be adhesive coated and tiled over anyway. Anybody got recommendations?

i would butt them as tight as possible, dont think you need a gap, less to try and seal against water penetration,im not sure what to use on the joint though

like the blind leading the blind ,lol ;)

here goes ,

Cement Backer Board, half inch Thick ,

corrosion-resistant coated screws ,

fiberglass mesh tape ,

thinset mortar,
measure an cut the board to size using a fine toothed saw ,
using a file smooth off edges ,

fit your first board , rough/dimpled front outward an screw every 6 to 8 inches,an not more than 2" from board edges ,

an fit next board next to it ,screw down ..

on the join use fiberglass mesh tape ,
an spread a thin coating of mortar over line of tape

now either tank boarded wall or tile on

if you have any probs understanding this go here
