it would not hurt to squeeze a bead of silicone along the edge of the board prior to fitting its neighbour.
i personally have not sealed them but i guess if a tile joint happens to fall in exactly the same place, you have the potential for problems.

I just fill the joins with tile adhesive, apply reinforcing tape over the top & force some more adhesive into the mesh. Someone recently posted they apply a thin bead of silicone sealer between the boards. I can see the logic but, as not much sticks to silicone, I wouldn’t use it.
